About the director, Oscar Catacora
He was born in 1987 in southern Peru and is of Aymara origin. He has a degree in Social Communication Sciences and has studies in Art in the specialty of Theater of the National University of Puno Altiplano - Peru. Oscar Catacora is a self-taught filmmaker, began his career as an audiovisual producer at age 17 next to the production company Cine Aymara Studios where he developed a long list of experimental short films. In 2007, under the pseudonym of Oscar Catacora he made his first experimental medium-length film called "El Sendero del Chulo", produced in video and with a duration of 45 minutes, was presented in film festivals in his native country. In the year 2017, Oscar Catacora participated in the 21st Lima Film Festival where he presented his debut feature film "Wiñaypacha" and obtained an honorable mention as the best Peruvian film which was awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Peru. Later, in the same year, "Wiñaypacha" was chosen as the best Peruvian film in the II National Feature Film Festival University of Lima - 2017.
