Saturday 2200-2330

Length: 08:47 min

Directed by: Pega Pasalar

Country of Origin: United States

s the viewer follows a joyful trip to the beach by a family with three young children, innocence and happiness give way to the unthinkable. While the day unfolds on-screen, the audience comes to realize, through subtle audiovisual cues, that a tragedy has occurred: one of the three children has drowned. Decisions are made in a state of shock, and the blurred lines between the rational and irrational interrupt and fragment the journey back home. The parents opt to bring their dead son back in the same car with the two other children pretending as if he is sleeping.

Pegah Pasalar (born in 1992) is an Iranian interdisciplinary artist currently based in Chicago.
She received her bachelor’s degree from the Art University of Tehran majoring in cinema editing.
She is a full-merit scholarship awardee at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she is pursuing a master of fine arts in studio with an emphasis in film and video.

Saturday 2200-2330

Length: 16:29 min

Directed by: Abhirup Halder & Raunaq Das

Country of Origin: India

A young couple spends a long night on the road, floundering about in abandoned memories...

Abhirup Halder grew up in Kolkata, arguably the cultural capital
of India. In his formative years, he got swept away by the strength of Cinema as a medium, and has been trying to dissect the craft ever since. He got exposed to Cinematography and Editing while making curriculum films at his institute. He further honed his skills by collaborating with various artists and documented diverse theater and performing arts projects. Gradually shifting from cinematography he moved on to concentrate on writing and direction. In 2018, he collaborated to make his first feature film (Khyapa) where he worked as associate director,
cinematographer & editor.

Raunaq Das, born and brought up in Kolkata, deviated from his
science stream after higher education. Starting off as a writer and director of fictions, he developed interest in documentaries. Since then he has been editing documentaries and writing scripts for various directors. Due to budget constraints he has learnt to create production value with minimal equipment & resources. He has managed to build a basic skill set in almost all departments including sound and production which makes a very indispensable crew member.
